We are lucky to have a secure site.  There is no public access to it.  We have 3 entrances.  The main access is via St Joseph’s Grove where we have a small car park.  Another gate leads into The Grove Park and the other into a public footpath that leads to Sherrock Gardens. We have 38 current members (some members have more than one plot) ranging in ages from their 30s to their 90s with a good mix of men and women and quite a few children.   All nationalities are welcome. The plots come in various sizes: 10 poles (approximately 9x27m or 10x30yds), 8 poles and 5 poles (9x13.5m or 10x15yds) and the fees are very reasonable. We have a good supply of running water and water butts are placed around the site.   We often have supplies of bark chippings and free manure delivered (from Buckingham Palace) for our use.  We have 2 notice boards where we pin up reminders of what to sow/plant now etc.  We have regular newsletters and organise working parties to tackle particular jobs.    Last year we visited another site to get ideas as to how to improve our own site and we hold competitions for the Best Newcomer and a Children’s Competition.   Competent plot holders are encouraged to enter the Barnet Federation Competition. The area near the Trading Hut is for the use of the society, where we hold our Annual General Meeting and a summer BBQ.   The atmosphere is very friendly and helpful. We currently have a short waiting list but you are welcome to come and visit us without any obligation to see what is involved in running a plot.
