What does the Federation do?
The Barnet Federation was formed in 1965 at the time of the amalgamation of the
Boroughs of Finchley, Hendon, the urban districts of Barnet, East Barnet and Friern Barnet
into the London Borough of Barnet.
The Federation holds at least nine meetings a year for site representatives and an
annual general meeting in February.
These meetings are held in the Pavilion at Rathbone Allotments in Oakleigh Road North,
Whetstone.
Federation representatives meet monthly with a councillor and
council officers to discuss allotment matters.

Federation
members also assist in the arrangements for the Horticultural Section at the Friern Barnet
Summer Show held annually in August in Friary Park N12.
The Borough of Barnet Annual Plot and Site
competition in July together with the prize giving at Hendon Town Hall, later in the year,
is organised by the Federation.

The prize giving is attended by the Mayor of
Barnet, Councillors and various council officials.
Cups and shields along with
prizes of money (e.g. £100 for best kept plot) are presented.
